Charcoal makes water healthier
Charcoal stick makes water healthier
Update 2015-04-20
I received this very quick reply from Black+Blum:
We sell the charcoal sticks as part of our eau good bottles and our main aim was to make tap water taste better and as a result reduce the amount of plastic bottles being bought and discarded. It is widely accepted that binchotan removes impurities.
We have had the sticks tested by a big Testing House specifically for chlorine, fluoride and effects on the ph levels as they are what makes the water taste bad and I enclose a copy of the report. They have confirmed that the charcoal removes chlorine and balances the ph over a certain period of time.
Any resulting health benefits are assumed and proof of that would require a much larger and complex study which would be beyond our capabilities.
The report simply shows that chlorine levels decrease with the charcoal sticks and a change in pH is seen. However there are no effects on fluoride levels and there is no evidence to support the claim that charcoal sticks offer any health benefits.
