Defra have decided to remove independent scientific oversight of pilot schemes assessing whether culling badgers reduces TB in cows.
Update 2014-10-31
I asked Environment Secretary Liz Truss for further evidence that the independent scrutiny was designed to be in place for one year, and for the evidence from other countries that supported shooting badgers to control TB in cows. I haven't yet heard back although I've been promised a response soon."
