Introducing our 2016 Ask for Evidence Ambassadors

Ten passionate early career researchers have been selected from over 100 applicants as our 2016 Ask for Evidence ambassadors. They will represent the campaign at talks around the UK and beyond and encourage different audiences to Ask for Evidence.

The researchers, who are based all over the UK and cover a wide range of disciplines, attended a training day at the British Pharmacological Society on 5th October, where they had a chance to hear more about the campaign and get expert public speaking training from Hilary Lyons of the Speakers Trust. Read what happened on the training day in this Wellcome Trust blog by Dr Claire Marriott

The ambassadors are now looking within their research and local community groups to find opportunities to give talks about the campaign and inspire others with their enthusiasm for evidence in public life.

Meet the 2016 Ask for Evidence ambassadors.

Chris Peters, Ask for Evidence coordinator: “These researchers are such great advocates for the campaign. They are passionate, inspired and they understand the scientific process and importance of evidence. It’s a great way to give early career researchers who have enthusiasm for public engagement, public speaking opportunities and the chance to reach a wide audience with the campaign.”

If you are involved in any group that meets regularly, whether it’s a local Women’s Institute, university research group or gardening and allotment society, and you’re interested in having a talk about the Ask for Evidence campaign, please get in touch.

The Ask for Evidence ambassador programme is supported by the Wellcome Trust.
